Question: Tell me about the ASHA Legislative Council.
Answer: The ASHA Legislative Council consists of 150 voting members and represents 53 constituencies including the 50 states of the United States, the District of Columbia, and an international delegation. The Legislative Council is divided into two subgroups: the Audiology/Hearing Science Assembly and the Speech Language Pathology/Speech or Language Science Assembly. The Legislative Council assists in establishing policies of the ASHA and identifies priorities for the Association.
The Legislative Council meets twice per year, once during the annual ASHA Convention in November and once during the Spring in Washington, DC to provide easy access to the ASHA National Office and Capitol Hill. The Legislative Council conducts business throughout the year via mail or electronic discussions and voting.
