At the request of the Division 2 Steering Committee, I am writing the following update on the application from the Academy of Neurologic Communication Disorders and Sciences (ANCDS) to be the Petitioning Group for Specialty Recognition in the area neurologic communication disorders. As noted in the December 1997 Division 2 Newsletter, our Stage I application was approved in October 1997. Prior to submitting the Stage II application, it had been our understanding that ANCDS would maintain control over the standards for specialty recognition, with the Clinical Specialties Board (CSB) as the final arbiter. This issue proved to be a difficult one to clarify.
