Greetings, Special Interest Division 2 Affiliates!
It was wonderful to see so many of you at the ASHA Convention. I am very proud of the Division 2-sponsored programs offered this year, and I believe this year, as in the past, our special interest areas were covered very well. We commend the adult language disorders and motor speech Convention committees for providing such a varied and scholarly program. I wish to thank Scott Rubin for representing our division on the program committee. A special thanks to division affiliate Sandra Bond Chapman and her colleagues Harvey Levin and Gerri Hanten for providing such a wonderful Short Course on executive function in children following TBI and to Anne Foundas for providing our division sponsored seminar on language and the brain. Also, we were fortunate to have several division affiliates invited by the program committee to present programs, which were co-sponsored by Division 2. This added to the depth and quality of this year’s convention program, and it also served to highlight the value of Division 2 affiliation. As you may know, ASHA does not allow honorariums or reimbursement for ASHA members who present at Convention. Affiliates who provide division-sponsored Short Courses and seminars do so as volunteers, and their dedication and generosity is greatly appreciated. In addition to our programs at Convention, Division 2 also co-sponsored Clinical Aphasiology Conference this summer and the educational meeting of ANCDS on the day before Convention. Thank you to Janet Patterson, our CEU Coordinator, for her leadership and diligence in managing these activities.
