Welcome to our second issue of the 2011 Perspectives on Neurophysiology and Neurogenic Speech and Language Disorders. We extend our appreciation to Coordinating Committee member Gail Ramsberger for serving as guest editor for this excellent issue devoted to the topic of attention in aphasia.
Special Interest Group (SIG) 2 was pleased to be a sponsor of ASHA's Healthcare and Business Institute 2011 in April. We would like to thank Student Representative Gina Griffiths for “manning” our informational table.
We have completed the plans for our invited sessions at the 2011 ASHA Convention and hope many of you will be able to take advantage of these sessions. Rik Lemoncello and Jessica Fanning will be presenting a 3-hour Short Course on “Practice-Based Evidence: Strategies for Generating Your Own Evidence.” The abstract reads

EBP requires rational assessment and treatment decisions that integrate research evidence, client values, and clinical expertise. Clinicians face a challenge when there is a lack of empirical research evidence. This session provides practical strategies to: ask critical questions, collect thoughtful data, and generate local evidence to support or refute practices.
