I hope this issue of the Special Interest Division 2 Newsletter finds you well and poised for vacation. In this issue, I will summarize the outcome from our Leadership Conference held in March. If you would like a more detailed report from each of the committees, I will be happy to send the committee reports of their goals and action plans to you. Just e-mail me at lmaher@txucom.net and I will send them to you as electronic attachments.
The conference was held at the ASHA National Office in Rockville, MD, so that our group could learn more about who does what at ASHA and how we might collaborate to our mutual benefit. Our conference began with a dinner meeting on Friday night consisting of a brief review of the history of the division and introductions. Each committee chair reported on the activities of their respective working committees and then the group broke up into committees. The committees were charged with developing objectives for the next 3 years and action plans to accomplish those objectives, including an estimate of the resources required to accomplish those goals. A Steering Committee representative on each committee facilitates communication between the working committees and the Steering Committee.
